Costco and Its Executive Membership; There is no denying that when it comes to grocery stores and retailers, Costco has emerged as a huge player in this industry.
Serving as a hub for whatever shopping you may need to be done, Costco allows its members to select from a wide array of membership options and tiers that are most in the suit for what you and your family may be in search of.
With the introduction out of the way, let’s take a look at Costco’s Hughes level of membership, which they aptly named “Executive Membership”.
Costco Executive Membership Hours
What are the perks of being an Executive Member at Costco? Is it really worth it? After doing extensive research into this topic, here are the results:
Costco Executive Membership and Their Hours
Unfortunately, Costco does not provide additional store hours for its Executive Members. The reason why this is an often researched question and the topic is because, in fact, Costco did previously allow its Executive Membership holders to shop before other members.
While this of course used to be a very big perk of being an Executive member, such a practice by Costco has been slowly but surely ruled out, and ultimately has been discontinued from all of the Costco stores for the last 6 or so years. The change in policy occurred in 2015.

So Costco Executive Members do not get to shop early?
In essence, no, they do not get to shop any earlier than members of other Costco tiers since the change in policy that occurred back in 2015.
It used to be a very lucrative perk as members could have first access to high-demand items, as well as shop with less of a crowd, allowing for a much more relaxed, stress-free experience.
We are saddened to report that this is simply no longer the way in which Costco operates, irrespective of whatever membership tier you may hold.
Instead of the old policy, now all members are able to shop at the same time, which is from 10:00 am on the weekdays as well as Sundays, and then 30 minutes earlier on Saturday mornings at 9:30 am.
Our research does show that certain Costco warehouses do make a real effort to open their stores slightly earlier than their scheduled opening time.
This is especially the case if it is near a big holiday when there is more of a crowd at Costco. This type of policy certainly differs depending on location. Some warehouses are only open at their respective listed opening times. Consult with your local Costco for the best, up-to-date information on opening times.

What even is a Costco Executive Membership?
So if an executive membership no longer grants you easy access to shop at Costco, what does this membership tier offer you? For starters, you would the highest tier of Costco members.
Such status can be obtained by upgrading their current tier for an extra $60, which would be on top of what they are already paying in their annual membership fees, which our research shows to be already $60.
This would result in an Executive membership tier costing $120. Along with your executive membership card to Costco, your tier status comes with a spousal membership card as well—-a nice perk for being an executive member!
How do you upgrade to Executive Tier?
The Primary Member or the person who is Manager for the Account of an already existing membership can upgrade to an executive at any time be or she wishes by doing the following options:
Online- you can sign in to your account or register for a new account at Costco.com, then your next step is to visit the tab listed as Account Details. Once Costco is able to verify your membership, you can then go ahead and upgrade.
Another way that you are able to upgrade your tier is by simply visiting Costco in person. The last option is by calling Costco directly via their phone number, which is 1-800-774-2679.
Simply inform the customer service representative that you would like to upgrade to executive membership, and he or she will happily assist you.
What advantages come with the Executive Membership Tier?
For starters, those who pay the $120 for the executive membership tier are offered perks that are simply not available to the lower fees. What are these perks, you may ask?
Although the additional hour period has long since been discontinued, these following perks are still offered in accordance with your executive membership tier:
Savings! Executive members can acquire additional savings on certain services. These services include things such as auto service insurance, real estate programs, roadside assistance, and even certain business services that all will give a certain discount due to your tier of being an executive member.
Along with these additional savings, Executive members are provided with exclusive offers and extra discounts. One such example is their 2% cashback policy. This 2% would apply to almost all of your purchases at Costco.
The only exceptions to this rule come in the form of goods that are tobacco or alcohol. Those do not offer 2% cashback.
After doing the math, if you wanted to justify the additional $60 for the executive membership, you would have to be spending around $3,000 a year at Costco to make your money back.
But, the cashback is just one of many perks that come with this tier, so even if you do not spend that much in a year, it still may be worth it to splurge for the top Costco membership.
Although Costco originally gave its Executive members the perk of special hours to shop, the practice has since been discontinued. Every tier gets to shop at Costco at the same time.
Still, Executive members hold the most perks and the highest status of membership, with perks coming in the form of discounts, services, and even cash back!
